About Kobold's Kitchen

If you have 800 board games crammed into your apartment, you need to open a board game lounge.

Originally from the Midwest, Theodore "Teo" Geiger got his start in board game lounges during a stint in North Carolina. He then spent years as a food safety scientist, mixing his love of cooking with his desire to provide clean, safe experiences for customers.

When his own personal board game library started to dwarf the rest of his belongings, Teo knew it was time to take the plunge and start a business. With his eyes on the Midwest, he quickly identified Grand Rapids as the perfect spot.

Teo soon brought on Ashley Wilson, Head Baker and General Manager, and Karina Pavey, Game Librarian. Creston caught his eye as a neighborhood where a community-oriented cafe would thrive.

Teo and Ashley oversaw the complete renovation of the old Fat Boy Diner to turn it into the fun, welcoming atmosphere it is today. With a dozen employees and full menus for breakfast, beverages, and lunch/dinner, as well as a library of 800 games, Kobold's Kitchen opened in spring 2026.
